Urusei Yatsura (2022) follows the chaotic life of Ataru Moroboshi, a perpetually unlucky high school student, after he's chosen to represent Earth in a game of tag against Lum, an alien princess. If Ataru wins, the Oni invaders will leave Earth alone.
Driven by a promise of marriage from his childhood friend, Shinobu, Ataru unexpectedly wins the game. However, due to a misunderstanding, Lum interprets his victory as a marriage proposal to her, and decides to become a permanent fixture in his life.
The series then chronicles Ataru's increasingly bizarre and humorous attempts to navigate his life with the clingy, electrifying Lum constantly by his side, all while trying to win back the affections of Shinobu, his original crush. The situation gets even more complicated as other eccentric characters enter the scene, drawn to the strange energy surrounding Ataru and Lum.
Ataru's initial victory might have saved the world, but it seemingly cursed his personal life, leaving viewers to wonder if he'll ever catch a break.
