Synopsis
In an alternate, Westernizing Japan, a young soldier named Kei Agemaki, who harbors a deep-seated fear of the supernatural, is assigned to a unique government ministry.
This ministry, the Ministry of Spirit Affairs, aims to bridge the gap between humans and youkai (spirits) and solve paranormal issues.
Kei is partnered with a group of youkai maidens: Zakuro, Susukihotaru, Hoozuki, and Bonbori.
Together, along with Kei's fellow officers and the guidance of the fox spirit Kushimatsu, they must overcome their differences and work together to address the various problems that arise between the human and spirit worlds.
The anime explores the challenges and potential for harmony that come with blending traditional Japanese culture with Western influences, while also highlighting the relationships between men and women in a changing society.
