Is Kyō, Koi o Hajimemasu Finished? Everything You Need to Know Before Watching!

What is Kyō, Koi o Hajimemasu?
#

Kyō, Koi o Hajimemasu (also known as Today the Love Begins! or Hoy comienza nuestro amor) is a romance series that follows the story of Tsubaki Hibino. Tsubaki is a self-conscious high school student with a passion for hairstyling, though she feels her own look is too old-fashioned for her peers.

Her new high school experience takes a dramatic turn when she meets Kyouta Tsubaki, the top student in her grade. Kyouta is the polar opposite of Tsubaki: an arrogant, promiscuous playboy who happens to share her name. After a defiant encounter where Tsubaki cuts Kyouta’s hair, the dynamic shifts when he ominously threatens to steal all of her “first experiences.”

If you are looking to dive into this romantic clash of personalities, you can watch the anime on Prime Video.

Is the Anime Really Finished?
#

When asking if the anime is “finished,” it is important to look at the source material. The original manga was serialized from September 5, 2007, to November 20, 2011. The anime adaptation was released in 2010, meaning it premiered while the manga was still being written.

Because the anime was released before the manga concluded, viewers who watch only the anime may find themselves wanting more. To get the complete story and a fully satisfying conclusion, we highly recommend continuing with the source material. You can buy the manga here to see how Tsubaki and Kyouta’s relationship evolves beyond the screen.

Themes and Audience Appeal
#

This series is best suited for fans of the romance genre, specifically those who enjoy high school settings and the “opposites attract” trope. The appeal lies in the tension between the self-conscious, traditional Tsubaki and the confident, playboy Kyouta. Themes of self-image, social hierarchy in school, and the excitement of first loves drive the narrative.
