Synopsis
Kusuriya no Hitorigoto follows Maomao, a young woman with extensive knowledge of medicine, who finds herself working as a maid in the imperial court after being unexpectedly sold there.
Initially, Maomao seeks to remain unnoticed and live a quiet life, hiding her skills to avoid trouble. However, when a mysterious illness affects the emperor's children, her curiosity and expertise compel her to intervene.
Her attempt to anonymously solve the problem draws the attention of a sharp eunuch named Jinshi, leading to her promotion as a lady-in-waiting to a favored concubine.
Maomao then uses her pharmaceutical knowledge to solve various medical mysteries and treat ailments within the court, becoming an increasingly valuable asset despite her initial desire for anonymity.
