What is Kill Blue?#
Kill Blue (also known as Kill Ao or キルアオ) is a high-energy blend of action and comedy that follows the unusual life of Juzo Ogami. Juzo is a grizzled forty-year-old hitman who has spent his entire existence in the shadows. After an amicable divorce and a return to his professional roots, his life takes a surreal turn during a mission. After accidentally unleashing a genetically-modified wasp and being stung, Juzo finds himself trapped in the body of a thirteen-year-old.
To reverse this condition, Juzo must infiltrate the pharmaceutical group responsible for the wasp by getting close to the company’s daughter. This leads to the ultimate challenge for a professional assassin: attending middle school. If you’re looking for a series that mixes professional lethality with the awkwardness of puberty, you can watch the anime on Prime Video.
Is the Anime Really Finished?#
If you are wondering whether the anime provides a complete story, the answer is: not yet.
While the original manga concluded its run on September 1, 2025, the anime adaptation is still unfolding. The series premiered on April 11, 2026, and fans were recently treated to the news on June 27, 2026, that a second season is officially in the works.
Because the anime is currently ongoing, viewers who only watch the show will likely find themselves waiting for future seasons to see the full conclusion. However, since the source material is already complete, those who cannot wait for the animation can buy the manga to see how Juzo’s journey ends.
Audience and Appeal#
Kill Blue is best suited for fans of action-comedies and “fish-out-of-water” scenarios. The appeal lies in the contrast between Juzo’s mature, lethal instincts as a veteran hitman and the restrictive, chaotic environment of a middle school. The theme of assassins blended with school-life tropes makes it a great pick for those who enjoy fast-paced plots and humorous character dynamics.
