Synopsis

Hoozuki no Reitetsu offers a comedic glimpse into the surprisingly bureaucratic structure of Hell.

The story centers around Hoozuki, the chief deputy to King Enma, who is essentially the brains behind the smooth operation of the afterlife.

Each episode generally presents self-contained situations and problems that Hoozuki must solve, often involving interactions with figures from Japanese folklore, other mythologies, and the various denizens of Hell.

Hoozuki's calm demeanor and sadistic methods are constantly tested as he manages the day-to-day chaos and bizarre challenges of his job.

It's a workplace comedy, but the workplace is Hell, and the employees are demons and other mythical beings.

Think of it as a dark and often absurd take on office life, with a healthy dose of Japanese mythology.
