Synopsis
In a future where mechanical bodies offer immortality but are incredibly expensive, a young boy named Tetsurou Hoshino dreams of boarding the Galaxy Express 999.
This train supposedly travels to a place where mechanical bodies are given away freely.
Tragedy strikes when Tetsurou's mother is killed, dashing his hopes until he is rescued by the enigmatic Maetel.
Maetel offers him a pass on the Galaxy Express, but only if they travel together.
Tetsurou embarks on a grand adventure across the universe with Maetel, visiting strange planets and facing perilous situations, all in pursuit of his ultimate goal: obtaining a mechanical body.
