Synopsis
The story is set in a war-torn China, still reeling from a rebellion. The lingering negativity from countless deaths is giving rise to monstrous creatures called wangliang, which possess people and create even more chaos.
To combat this threat, celestial beings called Tianyuan choose individuals as Hunters. These Hunters are partnered with Guizhan, special beings created to absorb the miasma that empowers the wangliang. The Guizhan can transform into demons themselves, acting as weapons.
After a past tragedy led to the disbandment of a Hunter unit, three new Hunters are chosen to reform it. Unexpectedly, the Guizhan responsible for the previous team's downfall is also assigned to the new unit. The anime follows this team as they must overcome their internal conflicts and work together to fight the growing wangliang threat and protect the land from darkness.
